friends..

lucky enough to be the only fan for the random 2:00a.m. Gut Ruckus reunion show in the space station.  These guys have been jamming for almost ten years.  Twas a good night.  I grabbed my old Canon 1d mk1 for the first time in a long time and took some sequence shots of Aaron, Jon, and David.  Funny to shoot with a camera that is over ten years old, weighs more than all of my camera equipment combined, takes a photo smaller than a current cellular phone, and is worth less than 3% of its original price.  but what is money any way?

some times you get to drive across the united states with some great friends.  I drove sixteen hours straight to pittsburgh for our friend Bobby’s wedding with my friend Dave McDermott sitting shotgun and a great man named Paul Sarkisian in the back seat.  The trip had some insane dialogue in the sixteen or so hours along with some extremely stomach aching laughter.  Snapped this photo at a gas pump somewhere in south carolina.

My old friend Carlos.  Close friend, Aaron, and I met Carlos one night waiting to bail a friend out of jail.  It was extremely cold outside and Carlos had just gotten out of jail for something petty.  As we waited for hours to get Greg out Carlos shared some amazing stories with us.  We gave him some money to get hot coffee and food.  He, slowly, made his way to the store and came back to talk to us again.  Unlike any homeless person I had ever met, Carlos asked for nothing.  He just wanted to share his story and experiences.  Greg walked out at some point and sat down and listened also. We put Carlos in the car and brought him to our house.  Our house at the time was a shit pile to most but was plenty good enough for him.  We had an extra room with a bed.  He stayed a few days and escaped the cold.  He told us in the time that he had been homeless he had never had anyone offer him a place to stay. haha, he fit right in with our crowd.  He spent a few days filling up on our food and sleeping in a comfy bed.  After enlightening our group of friends he kindly asked for a ride back to the downtown area so he could be with his friends.  Aaron drove him back one night and we were kind of baffled about the whole situation.  He was borderline crazy but also borderline genius, depending on which way you looked at it.  Either way the man seemed to be happy.  A lot of love to give and a lot of life knowledge to pass on.  We ran into him about eight months later living in an abandoned home outside of downtown.  He had just left the hospital after having some minor heart problems.  I snapped this photo mid story.  I haven’t seen Carlos in a long time but he always remembered us every time we saw him walking the streets. Hope you are still out there somewhere bud.
